Telegraph Cove Kayak Rentals And Outfitting

We are your one-stop shop for kayak rentals and trip outfitting on Northern Vancouver Island. Begin your self-guided Johnstone Strait kayaking tour right from our base in Telegraph Cove. Self-guided paddling trips allow you the ultimate flexibility to explore the Broughton Archipelago however you wish. Due to the dynamic hazards present in these waters, our Vancouver Island kayak rentals are only suited for groups with an experienced paddler who meets the criteria we’ve outlined below under the rental conditions tab. Although the Johnstone Strait is often picture perfect, its bite is bigger than its bark. Our rentals are best suited for advanced paddlers.

Note: Those looking to rent must fill out our rental application first. Our rental requirements are set at a higher level than industry standard. 10+ years of guiding locally in the area has developed a deep respect within us for the ever-present hazards. Essentially, you are replacing the guide and thus absorbing the safety responsibilities of the trip. It is important to us that we facilitate self-guided adventure responsibility and we take our role more seriously than a standard rental outfit. Our equipment matches the mindset and is top of the line expedition gear.

Highlights

We value quality at AWE Adventures and our goal is to ensure your trip is as safe and comfortable as possible. Our rental fleet includes brand-new 2020 expedition-grade Seaward kayaks, gender-specific PFDs, lightweight carbon fibre paddles and high quality camping gear.

Paddle out in peace of mind, knowing each piece of equipment has been fully cleaned and sanitized before use, inspected and properly maintained. If any of our gear fails you due to past use, we will replace it for you while on your trip (weather dependent)!

We can deliver kayaks anywhere on Northern Vancouver Island and more, including remote west coast locations (Cape Scott, San Jo Bay, Side Bay, etc.) and central coast deliveries via the Port Hardy ferry terminal (Bella Bella, Klemtu, Port Hardy, Great Bear Rainforest)
