July 27, 2020 Update

We are open and running trips. We have been implementing COVID health and safety protocols to keep both our guests and staff safe. Our Covid-19 policy has been updated with WorkSafeBC, WHO and Tourism Vancouver Island’s new guidelines.

At the Water’s Edge Adventures Covid-19 Policy includes:

  • Limiting all multi-day kayak tours to private groups. You will be spending time only with the group you booked with and your guide, maintaining physical distancing as much as possible while on tour.
  • Our guides have undergone new training clinics to learn rescues that maintain social distancing with our guests.
  • Emphasizing good hygiene with hand washing and disinfectant stations.
  • Each guest will be given their own dish kit (plate, bowl, mug, utensils, wash bin, etc.) to use, wash and pack for the entirety of the tour.
  • Thoroughly washing and sanitizing all communal areas and gear (paddles, PFDs, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, spray skirts, kayaks, etc.) in between tours.
  • Consistently disinfecting high use and frequently touched areas.
  • Implementing a no-tolerance sickness policy. We will not allow guests or staff who present any symptoms of colds, flus, or illness, or have been in contact with someone who has COVID in the past 14 days, to join tours.
  • Our staff policy ensures that any staff member feeling sick has easy access to time off.
  • Putting our cancellation policy on hold. Cancellations will be 100% refunded. We promise to work with you to find a new booking date, provide you with a full value gift card, or to offer a full refund.

May 21, 2020 Update

There is light on the horizon! Last week, British Columbia’s government initiated the Provincial Restart Plan. This plan lays out new guidelines for opening up the province in a post state-of-emergency manner. We are not going back to 100% normal, which projections suggest would cause a dramatic spike in transmission of Covid-19.

Phase 3 is projected to begin in early June and reintroduces out-of-community, intra-provincial travel and overnight camping. All of this is dependent on the spread of Covid-19 with the reopening subject to change. You can read more of the details here: BC’s Restart Plan

What does this mean? At the Water’s Edge Adventures is gearing up to open in early June with the introduction of Phase 3.  Our Covid-19 policy has been updated with WorkSafeBC, WHO and Tourism Vancouver Island’s new guidelines.

At the Water’s Edge Adventures new Covid-19 Policy includes:

  • Limiting all multi-day kayak tours to private groups unless previously agreed upon by separate groups.
Cancellations will be handled on a case by case basis. We promise to work with you to find a new booking date, provide you with a full value gift card, or to offer a full refund if we have enough time to resell your booking. We are all in this together!

We will be offering kayak rentals throughout the summer which is a great way to get out on the water and explore our region. Our rental application form can be found here https://atthewatersedge.ca/activity/telegraph-cove-kayak-rentals/

March 27, 2020 Update

As our world adapts with the COVID-19 epidemic, we want to keep our customers informed about the changes we are making within At the Water’s Edge Adventures. The health and safety of our guests and staff is our highest priority. While travel is not recommended at this time, we are looking towards the future when it is safe to adventure beyond our homes again. When that time comes, we want to be ready to offer the well-deserved wilderness escape we are all longing for throughout this trying time.

At the Water’s Edge Adventures’ small staff size of four people will be one of our greatest strengths in operating safely during this epidemic. Additionally, by limiting the number of guests, we will be more effective in keeping our company COVID-19 free. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our staff and guests!

At the Water’s Edge Adventures safety measures for 2020 include:

  • Limiting all multi day kayak tours to private groups. You will be spending time only with the group you booked with, and your guide.
  • Giving each guest their own dish kit (plate, bowl, mug, utensils, wash bin, etc.) to use, wash and pack for the entirety of your tour.
  • Thoroughly washing and sanitizing all communal areas and gear (paddles, PFDs, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, spray skirts, kayaks, etc.) in between tours.
  • Implementing a no-tolerance sickness policy. We will not allow guests or staff who present any symptoms of colds, flus, or illness, or have been in contact with someone who has in the past 14 days, to join tours. Screening processes will be in place.
  • Putting our cancellation policy on hold. If you need to cancel, we understand. We promise to work with you to find a new booking date, provide you with a full value gift card, or to offer a full refund.
  • Our kayak rentals are a great way to experience nature while maintaining physical distancing. Alternatively, you can purchase a gift card now that will be valid for anytime in the future. Give yourself a light at the end of the tunnel and plan your future getaway now!

To protect the health and safety of our staff and customers, all of our guests will be subject to AWE Adventures screening processes which are based off recommendations by the WHO and CDC.
