Two-Way Water taxi Day Tour to Blackfish Sound & The Broughton Archipelago Marine Park

This two-way water-taxi day trip bring you into either Blackfish Sound or the Broughton Archipelago Marine Park, which is part of the newly protected Great Bear Rainforest. The days are longer in June and July and the park at this time of year is starting to see an influx of migratory birds returning up the coast. The bald eagles are plentiful that we often see dozens in the tree-tops from our kayaks.

June and July are peaceful in the Broughton’s for human visitors. The day is spent kayaking through countless islands, exploring ancient First Nation village sites, and trying to find the first humpback whales of the seasons that are starting to arrive from Hawaii or Baja to feed on herring for the summer. Blackfish Sound and the surrounding area is where we will start our tour and can be littered with wildlife ranging from eagles, porpoise, dolphins, sea lions, birds of prey, humpbacks, orcas, and a variety of different invertebrates hiding under the water column. This Day tour is designed to maximize our wildlife encounters in one day by bringing our guest to the first area that comes alive in the early summer with a variety of different species and amazing islands to paddle through.

Overview of our Day Tour

The Blackfish Sound area and Broughton Archipelago Marine Park are made up of high currents, mazes of several small islands, numerous inlets and bays located about 30-minute boat ride from Telegraph Cove. The islands in the marine park are undeveloped and are largely undiscovered. The mostly protected waters of the Broughton’s offer an area that is an excellent place to spend the day exploring the sea by kayak. Most tours that paddle in the Broughton Archipelago Marine park spend on average 3-7 days exploring. Our water taxi ride allows us to enter the park in 30 minutes and allows you to explore the pristine clear and cold waters that are enjoyed by salmon, bears, seals, porpoise, sea stars, sea cucumbers, eagles, dolphins, orcas, and humpback whales. On this Day tour, our guests will enjoy the tranquil beauty of this area as they follow their guide through a myriad of island and islets, stopping at a couple beaches along the way for packed lunch, and to stop and watch wildlife pass them by. There are tons of alien-like marine critters to admire alongside our more familiar birds and mammals. We promise you won’t be disappointed by the sheer number of amazing animals you’ll see — but do your best to let them pass peacefully!

You’ll be well taken care of by our guides — they’ll make sure you’re well-fed, well-rested, and well-entertained… And of course, enjoying nature! So what are you waiting for? Come with us and explore the sea stars, anemones, nudibranchs, and so much more in the Broughton Archipelago Marine Park…
